Community guidelines
Last updated: September 2026
School Reviews is for parents, guardians, students, former students and neighbours living near a school sharing honest experiences about schools and preschools in Sweden. Reviews are public and can affect real people and organisations. These guidelines explain what may be published here. They are not legal advice and do not remove your own responsibility for what you write, including under Swedish rules on defamation (förtal) and data protection.
Do
- Describe your own direct experience with the school or preschool as a whole.
- Focus on teaching quality, environment, communication, safety, food, facilities.
- Be specific but fair — concrete examples without identifying individuals.
- Update or delete your review if your situation changes.
Don't
- No naming staff or students. Don't name teachers, principals, other parents, or children — yours or anyone else's.
- No personal data. No phone numbers, email addresses, personnummer or home addresses.
- No sensitive details about individuals. Don't share another person's health, disability, diagnosis (e.g. ADHD, autism), religion, sexuality or family situation.
- No accusations against individuals. Do not accuse or identify any individual as having committed a crime, abuse or serious misconduct. Serious concerns should be reported to the appropriate authority rather than published as an allegation against a person here.
- No harassment or slurs. No insults, threats, hate speech or personal attacks.
- No spam, ads or off-topic content.
Share your own experience
Reviews should be based on your own direct experience with the school or preschool.
Do not post rumours, second-hand stories or claims that you cannot reasonably support. Make it clear when something is your personal opinion, rather than presenting assumptions or speculation as fact.
Do not identify individuals
Do not name or otherwise identify teachers, principals, staff members, parents, pupils or children. This includes:
- Full names or initials
- Photos
- Contact details
- A job title combined with details that make the person obvious
- Class, department or other information that could indirectly identify a specific person
Reviews should focus on the school or preschool as an organisation, not on individual people.
Serious allegations and safety concerns
School Reviews is not a replacement for the police, social services, Skolinspektionen, the municipality or other appropriate authorities.
Do not use a review to accuse an identifiable individual of criminal behaviour, abuse or other serious misconduct.
If you believe a child is in immediate danger or that a crime has occurred, contact the appropriate authority directly.
You may describe your own experience of how a school or preschool handled a concern, provided you do so without identifying individuals and follow these guidelines.
Be accurate and fair
- You are responsible for the content you submit.
- Only include information that you genuinely believe to be accurate and that you have reasonable grounds for stating.
- Avoid exaggeration, speculation and statements presented as facts when they are actually assumptions.
- A negative experience is welcome when it is described honestly, constructively and without personal attacks.
Reviews are user opinions
Reviews on School Reviews are submitted by users.
School Reviews does not independently verify every statement in every review, and publishing a review does not mean that School Reviews agrees with, endorses or confirms the reviewer's claims.
Ratings and reviews should be considered alongside official information and other sources when making decisions about a school or preschool.
Moderation
Reviews may be automatically screened before publication for potential personal data, identification of individuals, sensitive information, harassment or other guideline violations. Reviews flagged by the system are held and checked by a moderator before they become public.
School Reviews may hide or remove content that breaks these guidelines, applicable law or our Terms of Use. We may also ask a reviewer to revise a review before it is republished. We do not rewrite your review for you.
Moderation decisions may take into account factors including privacy, personal identification, harassment, unsupported serious allegations, relevance, authenticity and potential harm. Repeated violations can lead to account suspension.
Where appropriate, and where we have contact details, we may tell users why their content was restricted or removed and how they can ask us to review that decision.
Reporting a review
Anyone who believes that a review contains illegal content, personal information, harassment, an identifiable allegation against an individual or another violation of these guidelines can report it to School Reviews.
Anyone can use the Report button shown under every review. You do not need an account to report potentially illegal content or a privacy violation. You can also email schoolreviewsinfo@gmail.com with the link to the review, what the problem is and how we can reach you.
You do not need to disagree with a review in order to report it, but disagreement with a negative opinion alone is not a reason for removal.
When reporting content, please identify the review concerned and explain clearly why you believe it breaks these guidelines or the law. We assess reports individually and may temporarily hide content while a report is being reviewed.
Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and submit a review. Former students are welcome to write about their school experience once they turn 18.
Your data & rights (GDPR)
You can edit or remove your own review from public view at any time from the school's page. You can also request deletion of your account, or exercise your other data protection rights, by emailing schoolreviewsinfo@gmail.com. Some information may need to be retained where we have a legal obligation, or to establish or defend legal claims. For details on how we process and retain personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
Are you a school?
We are working on a verified school-response feature. In the meantime, if you are staff at a school and believe a review is defamatory or breaks these guidelines, use the Report button or contact us.
Terms of Use
These guidelines are part of our Terms of Use, which also cover your responsibility for your content, our moderation rights, disclaimers and the applicable law.
