Autumn term 2026

• School starts: 17 August 2026
• Studiedag: 21 September 2026
• Studiedag: 15 October 2026
• Läslov / Höstlov: 26–30 October 2026 — week 44
• Studiedag: 25 November 2026
• School ends: 22 December 2026

Spring term 2027

• School starts: 11 January 2027
• Studiedag: 9 February 2027
• Sportlov: 22–26 February 2027 — week 8
• Påsklov: 22–28 March 2027 — week 12
• Lovdag: 7 May 2027
• Studiedag: 19 May 2027
• School ends: 11 June 2027

Malmö City notes that some schools may use a different studiedag instead of 19 May, so check your child's own school.*1

One useful preschool detail

Malmö City states that allmän avgiftsfri förskola — universal free preschool — follows the same holiday dates as school.*1

That does not mean every regular preschool arrangement follows the school calendar, so check your preschool if you need childcare.

What about independent schools?

Malmö explicitly says that independent schools can have different dates. These dates apply to municipal compulsory schools only.*1
