Is fritids open during school holidays?
Sometimes yes. That is why parents should check more than the school holiday itself.
For 2026/2027, Göteborg City explicitly distinguishes between days when school is closed but fritids remains open, and days when both are closed. During summer, only a smaller number of fritids locations operate in weeks 28–31.*1
What about independent schools?
These dates apply to Gothenburg municipal compulsory schools, adapted compulsory schools and preschool class.
Independent schools can use different calendars, so always check your child's own school before booking travel.
